I woke up on the 1st January 2020 and two men were lifting the sofa I'd slept on. I felt afraid, trying not to imagine the worst that could happen. They carried me somewhere new, sea glittered, mirrored mountains, side-by-side friendly. When I turned to thank them, the men had gone. Happy New Year

First blog of the new decade

Just managed to get my first blog in Tax returns beckon but so do the lake district hills who will win out this year. I feel change in the air, a stiffening in the resolve, in with the new and out with the old. The muddy fields are becoming less sticky, but no real sign of winter during the next two weeks. This will please the local wildlife but not so the lovers of frozen wintry landscapes. The Almanac - A seasonal guide to 2020 arrived just after Christmas. A book filled with opportunity. For last year's words belong to last year's language. And next year's words await another voice.
